The 44th President [Elect] of the United States


For two hours now, I have been trying to put words on paper. It hasn't been easy.

As a man who believes in the virtue of fundamental fairness, I am delighted that the United States of America will, come January, see its first African-American president. I was oddly moved by seeing Jesse Jackson's tears in the Grant Park audience tonight. As much as I may dislike the man, as awful as he may be on so many levels, it must have been an incredible experience for him and seeing him overcome by emotion without a camera directly in his face weighed heavily on me. It was not so long ago, after all, that black men were denied the right to vote and, tonight, one was elected president of the United States. That alone is a testament to the freedoms and opportunity afforded by the United States of America and everything for which She stands.

As an American, however, I wish that president could have been someone else. My God, we elected a socialist tonight. My God, we elected a man who has done nothing to show that he actually likes this country, nonetheless has its best interests at heart.

Still strugging for words, looking to connect my head with my fingers, I find myself disheartened because, if tonight is an indication of the near future, my daughter will not grow up in the same America I did. I find myself disappointed that my fellow Americans were not able to see past the rhetoric, past the spin, past the cloud of Bush Derangement Syndrome enough to do the right thing yesterday. I find myself angry knowing that more could have been done to prevail, that it was a better-run campaign and not a better candidate which won this race. I'm embarrassed that the electorate freely elected a man who, even in his victory speech, said that American "cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers" and somehow managed to speak of humility while delivering a speech before more than a million people. Humility, as Charles Krauthammer later said, is not one of Obama's strong points.

Yet, oddly, I find myself optimistic. Sure, I know full well that this loss will be blamed on Sarah Palin and the conservative movement as a whole, that news cycles for the next few days will focus on how the GOP needs to transmogrify itself into more of a big-tent party, that it was the religious right which lost this election for John McCain, ever concerned about their petty values and driven by their mindless faith in God. I also know, however, that this past evening's loss in reality falls squarely on the shoulders of a party and campaign mechanism that was, just like we saw party-wide in 2006, somehow hesitant and afraid to fight hard from its own traditional principled foundation.

We can Monday-morning quarterback as much as we want. We can talk about the inevitable, below-the-fold piece in the New York Times commending John McCain for his "respectful" campaign, and how the very presence of that piece will run to the heart of what is wrong with the Republican party and what needs to be done to retake the Senate, the House, and the residence and offices at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Strangely enough, it is that inevitable battle within the party which has be so optimisic. The GOP has some 'splainin to do, a real knock-down, drag out fight. The debate will be between (1) those who believe that moving the party to the center, that expanding the pie and building a bigger tent is the answer to the question posed tonight when America willingly elected a radical socialist to the presidency, and (2) those who believe firmly that America is a right-of-center nation and pandering to the center and left through La Raza events and cap-and-trade programs and the socialization of economic losses does nothing to benefit the GOP or the country as a whole.

I'm confident that the latter faction will prevail, that actual conservatives like Bobby Jindal and Mike Pence and Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin and Eric Cantor and Jim DeMint will be able to guide the conservative movement to, once again, the forefront of American politics by aggresively stressing and eloquently articulating the merits of fiscal conservatism, of smaller government, of free market principles, of a strong national defense and solid family values. Aided by the disastrous effects Obama's policies are sure to have on the economy, on our security and more, the process may not take as long as originally thought.

Six years, a good friend of mine said tonight, until we retake Congress. I think it will be less.

As corny as it may sound, it IS always darkest before the dawn. From Johnson came Nixon, from Jimmy Carter came Ronald Reagan. Tomorrow and the next day, the news cycles will surely not be easy and the pundits will be nothing short of ruthless -- but rest assured that news of the death of conservatism has been greatly exaggerated.

What these pundits, critics and know-it-all types fail to understand is that conservatism is bigger than John McCain, bigger than Grant Park, bigger than 2008. Conservatism wasn't invented by Reagan, by Barry Goldwater, Theodore Roosevelt or anyone else. Conservatism is not a trend, not a fashion or a theory designed for fleeting consideration before fading into fodder for books forever doomed to collect dust on the shelves of the elites. Yes, it will be written off tomorrow as out-of-touch, as antiquated, as too rooted in religion and the free market, but conservatism has been written off before -- it was written off in 1976 after the disappointment of Gerald Ford and Bob Dole; it was written off in 1992 after Democrats obtained control of the House, Senate and the White House; it was written off again in 1996 after Bob Dole's anticlimactic presidential run.

Barack Obama's victory a few hours ago was a turning point, a sea change pending for the Republican party as a direct result of the so-called "Big Tent" approach to party politics, a widely-inclusive but short-sighted approach which blurred the lines of the basic tenets of conservatism -- strong national defense and foreign policy, responsible and pro-growth fiscal policy, rich and grounded family and moral values. The more people, the more factions and more groups the GOP tried to cram into the left side of the Big Tent, the more those on the right side, the ones that had been there from the start and the ones who can deliver America to prosperity and keep Her there, were pushed out into a deluge of apathy and spite.

In these upcoming news cycles, the debate among those on the political left and right will surely include analysis of the relevance of conservatives and conservatism. If conservatives are so plentiful and so powerful, they'll ask, why wasn't it Barack Obama who was delivering the concession speech, why isn't it Cindy McCain measuring the drapes and preparing for her White House Christmas Special? Over the next few months, the pundits and pinheads will put forth the proposition that the country as a whole is moving to the left at a rapid pace. Look at the turnout numbers in the primaries, they'll say, pointing to the popular vote count discrepancy between democrats and republicans. Look at the general election, they'll maintain, pointing to numbers which show that Obama won by a larger margin than any democrat since Lyndon Johnson.

Don't believe what you hear. Don't let the same bitterness seen in so many liberals, that nasty venom and vitriol so artfully concealed behind empty smiles and yoga pants and gritty spirulina smoothies, don't let it seep into your daily lives. Don't allow it to happen. The core principles of conservatism--starting with a limited central government--are the very principles on which America was founded and, so long as we survive the next four years, those principles will be the reason that the party, and America as a whole, emerge stronger than ever.

Remember that the movement transcends the candidate. Remember that the principles transcend the election.

Keep your chin up, America -- Bobby Jindal is headed to Iowa next month.

Today we as a country decided on "the re-distributor in chief" who will undoubtably compromise liberty for so called "security".
Maybe the general public should have paid more attention in history class; our founding fathers were beyond their time in wisdom and foresight. Too bad the vast majority of Americans seem to have turned a deaf ear (most out of laziness). Maybe this is what we deserve... or maybe it will be what it takes to wake up the true patriots who still belive in the American Dream.

A man has just been elected President who cannot pass the background check to be a receptionist at the FBI or CIA, according to Newt Gingrich, much less an agent of the United States government. Obama will soon be the most powerful man in the world with access to global intelligence. Yet, he remains in contact with domestic and international terrorists. How can this happen?

WE must make sure the Electoral College uphold their duties & abide by the Constitution & prove that Obama is not eligible.

I sit here stunned myself as I watch people cheer for Obama. All I can think about is how our Constitution has been reduced to brown paper in a landfill. My only solace is that they didn't get the Senate, but that is short lived. I am with you there Mr. Schreiber.

This is a classic case of people who believe everything the media tells them, who never question anything, and fail to see the long-term consequences of their "rebellion" against the incumbent and his party. I am disgusted with how many people never bothered to fully investigate the platforms, and to question the information being propagandized. As a former student of law and one who worked in the legal field, just the thought of him appointing SC Justices of his liking is appalling. The only positive thing is that in 2 years, the Congressional majority will probably be the GOP again to counterbalance the POTUS and the ineptness of the next term of Congress under the Democrats. Thank you, Jeff, for keeping us informed through your blog. Only time will tell what future we have from January 20, 2009 forward. "Be afraid... very afraid."

I must agree with the last post. For most of my life I have been a democrat leaning independent. My parents were democrats and some of that rubbed off on me. However, as I (and my parents) realize, the democratic party of old no longer exist. It has been seized by the far left. Therefore, for the first time in my life, I voted for a Republican president. The majority of the masses are blind to what is the reality of Barack Obama. I do not believe that now is a time to hang your heads and give up. Now is a time to stand up and rally the troops to fight for 2012. The difference in this election, was that the far left has been planning this for some time coming, while conservatives and the GOP wasted their chance to better this country. Now is a time for all, not just republicans, who strongly disagree with the stances and ideals of the far left to take a long hard look in the mirror and reflect on the what could have been. In order for America to return to its true self we must hold to the values that made us who we are as a country as well as individuals. After reflection comes action. Not as individuals, but as a collective voice in 2012 that never again will we turn away from the roots that brought us to greatness. The greatest victories often come after a debilitating loss. Many Americans and Obama supporters will come to realize that the grass is not always greener on the other side. The Dream that is America will live on, and the true patriots who believe in the principles and values this country was founded upon will rise up and restore this country to greatness.

People are celebrating the death of America.

I spoke face to face with my congressman and the challenge is going to keep them motivated to demand proof of this foreigner's US citizenship. I am a young lady who also came late to my ideological progression-- and now have the bitter disappointment of never having voted for a winning candidate for president.
John McCain's concession speech was with filled with love for his country-- Obama's victory speech will surely lack any of that. Instead, he'll talk about change, and how he'll fix our "broken souls". My man may not have won today, but my soul is not broken, and I will not give up on my country.

The only way I can get up tomorrow is to hold out hope that something will happen before the electoral college vote.

I can't believe that the FBI or CIA doesn't know what he is planning. I can't believe that they would give him top secret information that he would pass on to our enemies. Seriously. How is that possible?

Surely they have evidence that he received foreign money. What about the rampant voter fraud?

Oddly, I feel mostly embarrased. I am, after all, an American. I feel ashamed that so many of my fellow voters could be so hoodwinked. That so many could be so blind to the obvious perils of the Obama vision. The blind hatred of G.W. Bush, the blatant racist voting nature of the Black voters, the ignorance of youth (who have yet to become stakeholders in our way of life), and a generation of entitlement have brought us here. Maybe we'll find a way to brighter days, but it will only be after decades of pain. I can only feel sorrow for the fate of my children, because while I will suffer under this tyranny (yes, tyranny), I will at least know what it once was like to aspire to success and have the chance to achieve it. For them, I fear there will only be the specter of mediocrity and crushing government intervention in their lives. Some might say that's over the top. For those, just look at what government stewardship has done to the American Indian population. Heck, look what's it's done to the multi-generational families that have never known a life off of welfare. This is a sad day not because a president and administration has views different than mine. It's that a president and administration will attempt to do things to our way of government that cannot be undone by a simple administration change. They will undermine the very rule of law and call it "progress". Rant over :)

I'm numb. My first grandchild, a girl, is due this month. My son is 34, so I've waited a long time. I am so sad to think that she may be "indoctrinated" rather than educated. Just how much damage can he and the vile Nancy, Harry, and George do? George wants his money back I'm sure. Didn't he buy this election, or am I just imagining things. So ACORN wasn't an issue for over half of the people who voted. Nevermind the 143 days in the Senate, or Ayers maybe.....you know, the failed "educational" experiment, Wright, Rezko, Flager, Kalid, Farakhan, New Black Panthers (who just happened to show up today for a little preview), or that we may all find ourselves very curtailed of rights such as free speech. I can't remember where we left off on "code words". I'm not sure if "whip", as in John McCain saying "I'm going to whip his you know what" turning into a racial slur. I remember "lynch", even though I equate the word with westerns. Sarah Palin stoned like Magdiline at the well. Was that all a dream. That's not even mentioning AL FRANKEN. The world has gone totally crazy. So we've elected an UNKNOWN IDOL as President and about to elect a really bad crass comedian into this fine mix of people. Who will we be able to listen and talk to if the conservative talks shows are gone and we're left with the freaking msm. Nevermind small business internet guys or those like my son is a folk artist and makes his money off of a web-site. I'm afraid that his sales are going to go down (which they already have) and he will not sell his high end stuff, which causes...you get the point. Okay, now I'm depressed. Wonder if Glenn Beck will make it to FOX while they are still on the air or have any resemblence of who they are now...........they have been slipping in places, but the most unlikely would report something, once. My head hurts.

I feel so similarly to many of the previous posts. I sit in disbelief, ashamed that so many in America can be so gullible and naive. The largest fraud conceived by people who hate what it is to be an American, has just come to fruition. My prayers and hopes go with Berg and his course of action with the supreme court. What we need is action. A grass roots action that inundates our courts demanding an answer to Obama's eligibility to be POTUS. I don't have the resources to start something, but send me to the right place and I will be there supporting it 100%.

One of my greatest concerns is this: how long will it be before Israel now preemptively strikes Iran? I feel strongly that this will happen before inauguration day. Have we just voted for the beginnings of a true WWIII?

For the first time in my life I am ashamed of the American voters. I will never understand how, as a nation, we could elect someone like Barak Obama. This man is completely opposite of what the founding fathers envisioned for our country. I am afraid that our freedoms, our economy and our very way of life is in grave peril in the hands of president elect Obama. I can see our enemies abroad cheering at this. I fear that the only thing we can do now is pray that he is found to be ineligible, otherwise we will spend the next 4 years saying "we told you so". I am heart sick right now and in total disbelief.

What should our agenda be in the coming weeks?

For the good of our country, in the face of what the nation as a whole faces, we have to balance partisian issues, with the need to act in a manner that benefits our country as a whole. That responsibility is laid upon the president, the president elect, the legislature (our senators and congressmen, newly elected and incumbent) and, last BUT NOT LEAST, we the people.

We need to proceed in a thoughtful and responsible manner.

That being said, I do not believe we should totally lay aside issues left unadressed by this campaign season. We need to address them, in a thoughtful, considered manner, which will require effort and citizen input in the months to come.

Here's what I see as needed "housecleaning list" for the weeks to come.

1. While we respect Senator Obama's apparent win in the vote, as of this date and time, not all eligible votes are accounted for, so nothing is final, until all votes are counted an in fact, validated.

2. With all due respect to Senator Obama, the questions raised in court, regarding his Constitutional eligibility for the office he aspires to have not been completely addressed. Several suits directly addressing this constitutional requirement have not been completely addressed at this date.

3. Andy Martin's suit, to the state of Hawaii, is based on a somewhat different basis than previous suits, and comes in the form of a more fact finding suit, to release info from the original certificate of birth filed in Hawaii.

4. Facts that come forth from both 2 and 3 are important to all constituents; therefore these processes should be allowed to be continued to completion, in the swiftest manner possible, for the good of all.

5. Validation of the constitutional requirement for eligibility for the office should occur prior to Dec 15th, to ensure a smooth transition of administrations, to maintain our nation's security. However, this short timeline should not bless a "shotgun wedding". Substantiation of the full constitutional eligibility needs to be documented and confirmed.

6. Constituents should continue to respectfully and persistently persue the eligibiilty issue with their elected representatives at all levels.

7. Constituents should now also adapt the attitude of "Caveat Emptor" Let the buyer beware. For better or worse, we have elected a cadre of personnel into our legislative and executive offices. It is now up to us to monitor their actions... and to report or satisfactions or disatisfactions. We citizens need to be more proactive than we have been, in the observance and contribution to all levels of our government. But I'll shut up now before you get too tired of me....

This is so unreal, we all sit and talk back and forth about what has happened or been said in the past.Everyone knows obama is not eligible to become president and i read some where that if elected he is not able to have any power or control over anything.How is this going to get stopped? My heart aches as well folks. America is right! She always has been. This man got to office on so many lies and deceptions that Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. certainly never envisioned in their great work. This is not The Dream, this is a nightmare. Read what Thomas Sowell, an African-American, had to say about Obama. You should Google him.

However, my friends, I am not scared tonight but I am saddened and angry.
If this election was about the American's sins of the past, let it be known it is not my sins and America has repented. As for me, I have never witnessed slavery, prejudice, chauvenism or segregation. However, if having a black man as president says we are beyond my father's atrocities, then I may rejoice. However I anticipate every race-based group to close shop beginning with the NAACP and the Black Panther Party. I expect now for my children's sake to see an end to Affirmative Action and movies that say, "White Men Can't Jump" if we can't have a movie that says "Black Men Can't Play Golf".

But somehow I don't think that will happen in my lifetime. Rather racism is now against me and my progeny.

McCain refused to bring up Rev. Wright knowing it would have stoked the flames of bigotry. However he wasn't given credit tonight the way he should have been, to his honor. Last, Rep. Lewis has never apologized and Obama never condemned his statements. I am angered on how the Palin family was treated. I am angry over the media bias. I am angry about Obama's hypocritical acceptance of Private Financing.

OJ was acquited and BO is elected...thanks to Oprah, Soros and Buffet.

I don't think we all will have any pleasure in saying, "I told you so!"

Man I feel like the whole country just entered the Star Wars prequel trilogy except that instead of Senator Palpatine you now have Emperor Senator Palpa-bama ahem President-Elect Obama calling the shots.

I think this was said back in the RNC Convention and to me it rings true that we hope in future years that we can continue to tell our children, our grandchildren, and future generations for what the America represents and stands for and not for what it used to be of a once passing dream and vision that once existed in the part but nevermore in the future.

For now I'll be looking forward to this country's next chapter of Star Wars Episode 4 (aka 2012): A New "Right" Hope after this country's prequel trilogy is over.

I am sick at heart but not surprised at the outcome of this election. I wonder how many voters can we actually blame for not doing research on their choice of candidate? Think about it. How many households have a computer with access to the internet? And even if the majority have computers why would they take time out of their busy lives to research a candidate? After all, Bush is so unpopular that most people probably decided they wanted a Democrat in office. Then the mainstream media painted Obama as the one to change this country for the better and people thought they could trust what they were hearing and reading, not realizing they were being deceived. I had no idea until this election how totally devious the MSM is. If I hadn't been unhappy with the way Hillary was treated I'm not sure I would have done any research either so I'm guessing I would have been as foolish as the rest of the trusting sheep. Guess that doesn't say much for my intelligence, unfortunately.

Folks, I think we should put the blame squarely where it belongs and that is with the mainstream media for their deceit, cover-ups, and outright lies. It is time to ban ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, et al, except maybe for Fox News since they were the only network that seemed to be pretty fair. Stop buying the New York Times, the Washington Post and all the rest that were as bad as the TV networks. It's the only way I can think of to make all of them pay for deceiving the people. Make their ratings drop in the toilet and their advertisers won't want to waste their money on them. It would be small consolation but at least we can get some laughs watching them flounder.

This does not amount to an assertion that an Obama "win" was not to be preferred to a McCain "win", but let us be analytical about how much either of these outcomes has ANYTHING AT ALL to do with us and our activities.

I will keep monitoring what Berg and others do on the Obama eligibility issue but I am afraid that conservatives are probably NOT going to become more focused as a result of being put in opposition.

And the less focused they are the more unviable becomes the notion of trying to work with them.

In the meantime, the rule of unreality is given a further extension in the form of the presidency of a man whose constitutional right to be president is disputed by a portion of the electorate that is however given no opportunity to express this opposition other than by voting for politics even worse than the politics of the unaccepted president.

I cannot think of any way of how to go about dealing with this other than to focus on Cynthia McKinney and the Greens. Along with Ron Paul, who has useless economic and social ideas, McKinney is the only major, or semi-major, candidate to have kept alive the 911 Truth issue that many have perhaps hoped would be allowed new exposure with the ending of the Bush presidency.

McKinney has to be asked now: if there is to be a new appeal for re-examination of the realities of 911, to whom should it be addressed? To the new President?? To address an appeal to him is to recognize his Presidency!

This is the bind that has now been imposed.

Of course there are other issues that can be dealt with without touching on the legitimacy question. The economic system and its functionality and dysfunctionality. Hopefully this can be an arena for closer transatlantic co-operation, including at the level of civil society.

But those who wish to remain in touch with social and constitutional, and not just with economic, reality, must continue addressing the problem of how TWO clienteles have now been captured by trickery: the conservatives by 911 and Osama, and progressive by the 2008 elections and Obama.

Can Cynthia McKinney and the US Greens help to find a way of extricating us from the double-ind we have been caught up in? Only by keeping BOTH issues, 911 and Obama legitimacy, open.

In any case, the US Greens are better than the European Greens, in programmatic terms, if not in depth. We should strive to increase their influence in Europe.

I just wanted to say that I hope we can all move forward together as Americans. I sincerely hope that we all have our country in the forefront of our minds and not our personal agendas. Undoubtedly there will be plenty who will never feel good about an Obama presidency, but we will be fine. Our country has survived 8 years of Bush, it will survive 8 years of Obama.

I am an Obama supporter, yes, but I'm an American first. This is
change. A real change for probably the first time in a generation.

It seems as though we are all forgetting - we do not know for a fact that Obama is not eligible. The evidence is compelling, but nothing has been proven... yet.

While we are putting this off on Obama cheating us, reality is that we voted him in office - with the information available. We made the choice to elect him and I am sure if it is shown he is not eligible, then he will not be sworn in.

Clearly, to think someone could be voted into the office of POTUS without proving eligibilty or allowing access to his school records to show what his ideology is/was should not be acceptable to anyone in our nation. The sad fact is that a majority found this acceptable.

Either way, collectively we as citizens are accountable for not holding the media accountable. We are accountable for voting in the corrupt officials to office who helped create the mess we are in. We are accountable for re-electing the officials who should have been responsible for knowing the problems created by fannie mae/freddy mac before these institutions caused the issues our economy now faces.

Instead of getting angry at others for our nations problems, look in the mirror and see where the accountability lies. Hold our elected officials responsible for every vote they make on bills. Hold them responsible for statements they make and actions they take. Look to the past and find the nation that was accountable for itself before we started turning to a nation wanting handouts and a nation of people who are excited for Obama to take care of their gas bills and mortgages. Once we find that, all of us need to fight night and day to take our nation back to that place.

Stop complaining and do something! Call your elected officials and demand that they verify Obama's eligibility to be POTUS. If it is shown he is eligible, find a way to organize your communities so we are ready in 2 years to take control back, and then again in 2012 so we can put our nation back on the course of accountability.

If nothing else, Obama has shown the incredible power of community organizing. Learn from his successes and use that knowledge against him.

We should not be complaining in 2 or 4 years because the responsibility will lie soley on us as it does today. We the people have the power to change our course - this election shows that. Unfortunately, in my opinion, we the people made the wrong choice... a choice based on emotions surrounding the state of the economy.

Just my 2 cents - look to the future and force our elected officials and media to be accountable. Learn from Obama and use his greatest skills against them - organize and get people to the polls so we are never in the same position again! Organize and get people to cancel subscriptions to biased newspapers that hide or gloss over real issues. Stop paying cable/satelite subscriptions to companies that do not allow you to cancel biased news stations.

Above all - stop complaining and do something to make a change for the better. Become a community acitivist and thank Obama for what he taught us after the next election cycle.

Can you explain for us non-legal types Judge Souter's decision not to throw out Berg's petition for Writ of Certiorari outright but to request that Obama respond by December 1? Assuming that Obama gives his response and then Berg gives his response, does Souter then put it to a vote by his Supreme Court colleagues to determine whether to approve it or not or can he summarily dismiss the petition at that point? If the Writ is granted, does the SC then throw the Berg vs Obama suit back to Judge Surrick in the District Court or can the SC then force Obama to reveal his documents?

I was working today in some (not a very big election precinct in California, only near 500 people).
California had 2 ballots (presidential, congress, local government representatives, and bunch of propositions).
Some of the Obama voters have been asking to help them just to find Obama in the ballots, because they didn’t care about the rest of the stuff.
Since they were saying themselves who they vote for, I spoke with some of them outside pooling place. I was curious, and the only question I was asking is why you voted for Obama? Some of them were ready to get into long conversation (for which I didn’t have any time and desire at that time) and I tried to get their answers as short as possible.
The bottom line of their explanation was plain and primitive:
---- about 40% (in spite of the age range from 18 to 70 years old – they appeared to be look the same: degradation up to un-thinkable level ):
– I don’t want to work its boring ….
– I don’t want to learn anything, I’m not so smart like some others …
– Why I have to do anything if Obama sad he gives me money anyway…
---- about 50% (mostly between 25 – 50, with some signs of knowing at least alphabet):
– He will take money from reach and gives to the people who deserve
– He will pay for everything I need (like mortgage, school, food, etc)
---- the rest of 5% (ageless, outside they look like normal, but inside – lost at the sea of their own stupidity):
– He will bring freedom, change in the government and world peace

The whole Obama-Hysteria sometimes reminds me ‘Dead Souls’ (in Russian ‘Мёртвые души’) by Nikolai Gogol (1842).
The ending of that "epic poem in prose" (“disgraced traveler is immediately ostracized from the company he had been enjoying and has no choice but to flee the town in disgrace”) is giving me a hope.

I so vividly feel the pain of million people, that I’m pretty sure that we ALL can get together as never before (old saying ‘one smart can beat a thousand of stupid’) and action is the antidote to despair.

What happened recently makes me speechless…tired…desperately wanted to get shower…good sleep and think that ‘Tomorrow never dyes’.

We are angry and saddened by the events of last night, (in theory) half the country DID vote for him.

It is an affirmative action type of votes by the Americans in favor of the black Obama!

My fears turned out to be correct and the polls (for swing states) actually turned out to be conservative (in Obama's favor); shocking.

I think these are the causes of this result:

1. Country is definitely getting more liberal; remember after 8 years of Clinton, Bush barely even beat Gore
2. Media bias greatly helped Obama
3. Nearly 1B spent by Obama to win the election
4. Huge unpopularity of current Republican administration (remember 2 years ago elections)?
5. Too many people buying the "I want change" slogan and going with a candidate they knew little about
6. Large block of African Americans voting for Obama
7. And the clincher: stock market collapse October surprise in Obama's favor

As I have read all the posts wanting to place blame, it dawns on me as it should everyone that we have no one to blame but ourselves.

We allowed George Bush to destroy the integrity of our constitution without ever demanding accountablity.

We have given up on the consevative pricipals that made the Republican Party what it was.

Bush, Cheney and their AG`s were in my opinion the most corrupt group of men that ever assembled in the Whitehouse. We watched and said nothing as it unfolded. Even today they defy the courts and Congress to explain their deeds.

The pricipals of consevatism were thrown out the window and spending under the Republicans went completely out of control.

This election came down to two things, whitehouse corruption, those responsible for it and out of control spending on a war that never should have been.

We have no one to blame but ourselves.

Educating yourselves about what your elected officials are really doing in Washington is the least you can do for your country.

Remember, no matter who is President, the current structure does not allow them to act in a vacuum. If you think Bush is the the cause of our current ills, think again. A largely Democratic congress had an equal if not greater responsibility.

We the People have a great responsibility in the months to come to educate ourselves on the activities of our senators and representatives. And to communicate to them, on a regular basis, our satisfactions and dissatisfactions.

Squeaky wheels do get greased eventually.

But doing nothing will yield nothing.

Centralization makes for government less adapted to local needs. When the locality is different enough from the area where central government is located, the central government becomes a tyrant.

Texas has always been independent-minded, and we don't normally agree with the politics of Washington. Localized government would help us do what is appropriate for our citizens. It would reduce the waste of vast bureaucracies, and let us tailor the laws to exactly what we need, eliminating fat. Further, we could develop our local economic and we would no longer be accountable for the political blunders of America, the bureaucratic entity.

Texas, Secede! We'll do it our own way, as we always have, with less cost and more reasonable government for our citizens. The centralized American government has gone too far, politically, and has gotten too big and too bureaucratic to handle our needs. We'll do it ourselves. Spread the word that Texas must be a free Nation again!

Thank you, Jeff for sharing of yourself with us in this blog. I have been avidly reading America's Right for a few months now, and I feel a sense of kinship.

While I'm disappointed in the election results, I am not discouraged. God is still on the throne. I believe America needed a wake-up call and this was it.
It's easy to point blame at the liberally biased media, and the GOP for abandoning their base, but I feel the real problem is that this country has lost sight of & faith in God.

Personally, I'm praying for revival in the land...for America to turn her heart back to God. I'm teaching my children the Ten Commandments and challenging my friends, family & fellow Americans to re-read Exodus 19 & 20.

God spoke to His people from Mt. Sinai in such a way that made all the people tremble. We think we're scared now, but imagine the heavens opening up, dark clouds appearing, thunder & lightening rolling out and a really loud trumpet blast. God delivered his commandments in this fashion so people would revere Him and teach their children.

Somewhere along the line, we stopped revering Him and teaching our children to obey these commandments.

While I believe fiscal conservative policies will help this country in so many ways and they are worth fighting for, I believe the moral fiber of this country needs mending in a far superior way.

Jeff, I fail to understand why the religious right is always wrong, and just because we believe in God doesn't make us the enemy. All we ever ask is to follow the words of God. Having said that, it is also said in the bible to follow those in charge, unless what they want us to do is diametrically oppossed to the bible. Thats exactly what I, and many others will do. This is a sad day indeed however, it is the day the death of American democratic society died.

I won't be surprised if over the next couple of years, things will go along wonderfully, the economy will improve, our wars will be ended over seas, and things such as that, but after this period is when I think things will really change, and not for the better.

Obama is a wise man, and I believe he is wise enough to know he can't come in on January 21st and start changing to his idea of our country, he will have to do it over time, as most people will not be aware of it by then. There was an anonymus comment earlier that "the constitution can't be changed". I believe you are dead set wrong on this point. BO believes that the Constitution is fundamentally flawed from the beginning. He believes the Courts should be changing it radically with their case decisions, somthing that is not even in their purview to do, and he as a lawyer knows this. How can the protector and defender of this document protect something he feels is flawed? Is it possible that The One could scrap this document for a better one, that reflects his views? And is it possible that this emotional cult-like personality worship of Obama will look the other way while he completely changes and dismantles the Constituion? After all if he is going to bring about "change" he says we so desperately need he must know what he is doing, what with all his experience and all.

And for the comment that we survived 8 years of Bush we can survive 8 of BO - I also disagree with you. I used to believe as you do but no longer. When the leader of this country is fundamentally opposed to all The United States stands for I feel it will take very little time for a free society to come to tyranny. We have possibly elevated him to arguably the most powerful position in the world. And you know the old saying, absolute power corrupts absolutely. It is basically easy to alter an entire civilization when you control the education system (as the radical left has for several generations now)and the media outlets (as is so apparent in this election). If the basic foundation of our government is changed with the rewriting of our foundational document we may not be able to survive or revive as the country I grew up in. And the loss of freedoms which will have to come to advance this radical agenda will make it more and more difficult to stand up for what has made this country great - think Brownshirts, Gestapo, Secret Police, threats by the IRS etc. Hold a country in fear of speaking out and you have absolute control. No, the basics of our country are on the precipice of complete and irreversible alteration.

Sorry if my ramblings are a little disjointed. I'm just in a state of shock and fear for these United State of America, and just wanted to have my say.

As I read your post this morning, I wondered if the vote had gone the other way how Obama's supporters would have spoken today? Would they have spoken of being disappointed, but proud of fundamental fairness, in seeing an honorable man elected to the presidency? Would they have spoken of protecting the Constitutional process and the freedoms and opportunities offered by America that a man of mixed ancestry could ascend the be a serious contender for the highest office in the land even if he didn't win? Would they be speaking of their love for America and what she stands for?

The vote was nearly split between the two candidates. Many of Obama's supporters voted based on seeing a historic moment instead of the issues. They didn't hear his words. They dismissed the person he did show us. When it comes time to stand with America or with ideals that will strip America of her basic values, her Constitution and the defense of this land, they'll come back to America's side. I'm sorry America's first bi-racial president was judged on the color of his skin instead of the content of his character. It's a terrible defeat for Civil Rights. His supporters simply don't see that yet.

The MSM has failed us with such resounding thunder, they've lost credibility. I thought last night as the anchors on Fox talked about Obama, at times, they sounded as if they would choke. What else could they do but speak of support? They, however, said over and over that we know nothing about this man we just placed in the driver's seat. They spoke of his agenda, his radical friendships and how Obama changed his views during the campaign to appeal to voters. With care for the circumstances, they spoke to America of the real issues and called for Obama to live up to his moderate promises. They warned any listener paying attention about holding him to those center-right values. I don't think we're alone in seeing the danger of electing a secretive man with a dubious past. But they can't say that now. Later, we'll hear it. We'll hear from fully one half if not more of Obama's supporters.

Honestly, I don't think his past will be revealed. I think the fight should go on, but there's too much at stake for it to become public. It'll be covered up. I think we're in for at least four years. My prayer is Obama will be the best president we've ever had, but I don't think that'll happen either. What's left? Holding our ground. Watching his every dot and jot. Writing letter after letter to our representatives, Pelosi, Reid and all others who support agendas we know are wrong. Flood them with millions of emails, calls and letters. Flood newspapers and other media outlets with editorials of sound facts. In two years, vote in as many Republicans as possible to temper the balance of power. We must speak out about the dangers of his proposals and make our voices heard. We're not nearly as alone as we feel at the moment. Our friends who supported Obama yesterday will wake up. If we can hold off the ill-conceived programs and ruinous tax changes by protesting in mass, he won't be re-elected. We must ensure that.

Maya Angelou said once that when someone shows you who they really are, believe them the first time. We did. A large majority of his supporters will have to see it again, but they will. Those who won't never had America's best interest at heart and never will.

I'm proud America can elect a man of color to the presidency. I wish it had been Bill Cosby. At least the State of the Union addresses would have been much more entertaining and he's a smart man who knows education and personal independence is the way out of poverty and racism. :>/

I must strongly disagree with those, conservatives included, who keep saying that Obama's team ran a better campaign. I am ashamed I was a dem for so many years. I come from a family of them. I look forward to doing what I can for the republican party. To help them grow and get back some of what they have lost.

We voted out a dem last night in my state, a state senator. It is a start. All of the republicans kept their offices here in my district. We even got a rep. woman commissioner this time around. Dana Murphy.

Waking up this morning, my heart really hurts. It hurts not because Obama will be the next president. That is a fact that nobody can change now. It hurts because I am desperately searching where to begin the rebuild of the republican party after the landslide last night. And frankly, I have no clue. Obama won the majority of the hispanic votes and majority of the young votes, namingly those under 30's. There is no way the GOP can win any election by losing those votes. Are we so out of touch with those people? Who can lead us through this mass? I heard you Jeff that there is Eisenhower following Truman and there is Reagan following Carter but who this time? Mitt Romney? Sarah Palin? I don't think any of these guys or grils can handle the task. IT is unfair to blame Sarah Palin for the loss but it is a fact that while Sarah mobilized the base of the GOP, she also brought us to the far right so that we lost ground in the middle, especially to those independents. Congress mid term election is 2010 and two years will fly by really fast. I just don't see any sign that we can turn it around with such a short time. To that sense, I think Obama will get elected again next time and it will too late to stop the socilism,

That was a wonderful post. However, Obama is in no way a radical socialist. He is still far to the right of any candidate in any other first-world nation, so America is still right-of-center. In fact, America will remain right-of-center even if the Democrats win every election for the next several decades. That's just where America falls in relation to everyone else, and I'm glad of it!

Now, I have one thing to say. I did not vote for McCain. And the ONE reason I did not vote for him is Palin. I know a great many people who feel the same way. In that sense, Palin did directly contribute to Obama's victory. Now let me explain why Palin managed to stop my vote: she is not a true conservative. She is a nut. I intend to e-mail my congressman, thank god we put a republican back in the senate, with Obamas statements concerning the constitution.so that he can be aware of judges in sheeps clothing..

The base is strong...we need new blood we need more sarah palins..she was such an energizer for the base.

Obama won by registering college students who have never voted and african americans, who only voted because he is black..this should scare all of you liberal leaning democrats...as it does me.

I have just wept for some time after reading many of the comments on this blog. There is so much despair and disillusionment that it breaks my heart.

Let me try to encourage with the words of Isaiah 35:3-4

Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance, with divine retribuiton he will come to save you."

We must throw off the blanket of self pity - we cannot indulge our shattered dreams!

I will FIGHT for our nation! If I have to deliver underground newspapers, that is what I will do proudly. I will continue to hang my flag right side up because it stands for LIBERTY! We cannot quit! We cannot give way to despair!

We have HOPE! There IS a way out of this and we need to band together, support one another and continue to fight the injustice of the media! There are so many battlefronts and we must bandage our wounds, stand up and stand strong!

Most of all, pray for our leaders! Pray for them to have wisdom to guide our nation! Yes, he may be the worst president we have ever had, but GOD can direct his path as we pray!

Oh, boy.

McCain concession speech brought me to tears. We have watched an American hero lose a battle against the so called "messiah" thanks to the lack of support from his own party. It takes a lot of determination and support to accomplish what you want in life and McCain had a lot of determination, the man just doesn't give up because he's trully an American, but his own party pretty much gave up on him.
I know that a lot of fingers are going to be pointed at Palin, but the reality is that this lady brought a lot enthusiasm to the ticket. I feel sorry for the way she was hounded by the media, her family has gone through hell, but they're a tough bunch and are going to be just fine.

And I can't help but feel sorry for Bush, I really don't think is right for only him to be blamed for the economic crisis. The fact is he kept America safe from harm, yes he made mistakes, but don't blame him...the Democrats were in power for the last couple of years.

I'm deeply saddened, disappointed and scare of what is to come. We all shall get together and expose Obama for what he really is before Dec. 15th. I live in Mexico, but if there is anything I can do to help, please count me in!!!

I hope that true conservatives will not cave to the "middlers." Just because the "leadership" of conservatives have not represented our values and beliefs does not mean that the values and beliefs we hold are passe. HOW TO DENY THE OBAMA ELECTORS

There are two ways to deny Obama Electors.

1) There are a number of states Obama won yesterday with Republican governors. FLORIDA is one such state.

Let the Governor, with whoever runs his Secretariat of State, refuse to allow the Obama Electors to convene and vote unless and until Obama proves his constitutional aligibility.

2) The District of Columbia just elected 3 Obama Electors. The President himself is the chief presiding officer over the District.

Let the President and his Attorney General disallow the Obama Electors unless and until Obama proves his citizenship.

Furthermore, may these people also use Federal subpoena powers to uncover documents pertaining not only to Obama's birth but also to his possible Indonesian citizenship. Let's have a look at Obama's Harvard entrance application and see if he didn't claim Indonesian citizenship when he applied.

Let's go into the bowels of the State Department to see if and when Obama was ever issued a US passport.

I thought that, in the end, Republicans are patriots who love the Constitution. Will they then not take action when the Constitution itself is at stake?

For if they do not, then why have a Constitution at all?

If we will not insure that the Constitution's requirements of presidential eligibility are met, then of what importance is the Bill of Rights?

And what happens if and when a foreign power gets wind that Obama is not constitutionally eligible to serve and blackmails him?

Or, what happens when a general -- who also took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution when he joined the US Armed Forces -- what happens when a general REFUSES an Obama order because Obama is not a lawfully valid Commander-in-Chief? The resulting clash could lead to a coup d'etat.

We all know the story of the Emperor's New Clothes. The emperor was really naked but nobody wanted to admit it -- until one single, small boy cried out, "The Emperor has no clothes!" Then the whole house of cards came tumbling down.

All it will take is ONE challenge, and the whole Obama house of cards collapses

You're absolutely correct. However, they will attempt to take away my hard earned money. They will attempt to take away my right to choose how to spend what's left (health insurance, etc.). When they do these things, they take away the choices I have to better my children's present happiness and future potential success. You're right, they won't change me. They will just make me poorer and sadder. They will say that the work I do today will be worth less to me tomorrow. For what? They will say that the effort I expend for my own betterment today will instead benefit some unknown segment of the population defined as "the needy" regardless of whether "the needy" merit that windfall. You're right, it's not the end of the world, but why in the world should I be of good cheer?

When is Berg going to get his (Obama) Kenyan Birth Certificate out. He's been working on this for a long time, I thought he had it. We need this Country Back. We cannot let him OBAMA run this country to the ground as he is planning to do.
